Over 500 Students Attend Creative Economy Career Day 2024

Creative Economy Career Day is a free, annual, one-day educational program by the City of Seattle Office of Economic Development and Office of Arts & Culture providing a learning opportunity for young people, ages 14-24, by giving them free, direct access to Creative Industry professionals through networking, experiential learning, engaging workshops, education and industry vendor tabling, and performance. Participants are exposed to a wide range of career opportunities in select creative industries. Read more at the link below.

The Creative Advantage Summer Institute Success

On August 18, more than 125 community arts educators and teachers flooded into the Seattle Art Museum to attend The Creative Advantage Summer Institute … The Creative Advantage Implementation Team is beyond grateful to kick off the school year in the company of all the arts leaders who collaborated and attended, making the day a rousing success. Anh Sy Seattle Youth Employment Program (SYEP) Intern Explores The Creative Advantage Summer Online Arts

The Creative Advantage Online Arts videos were created as a swift pivot in response to COVID-19, with goals to support students and families during school closures, as well as to support teaching artists who had been contracted to lead school day residencies. CAOA includes videos of diverse teaching styles and artistic disciplines as teaching artists share tutorials on breakdancing, paper crafts, African dance and drumming, and more.

Student murals honoring the history of Rainier Beach High School

This March Urban ArtWorks piloted a new program at Rainier Beach High School, working with three of their Theory of Knowledge (TOK) classes. Teacher Steven Miller reached out to Urban Artworks, through the Community Arts Partners Roster, with this project idea, wanting to provide his TOK classes with the opportunity to create actual art and produce 3-6 murals at Rainier Beach High School.
